WHY?

So, I guess an introduction would be helpful...

I am 37 years old. I am married to my best friend and have 2 puppies (they are not really puppies...but they are my babies, so...)I have lives in Las Vegas for about 2 1/2 years and I am a social worker.

I love to read and watch movies (although, my hubby would say that I am kinda boring with the movies I want to watch). I also love food, which is sometimes a problem and how I find myself in the current situation.

You see, I have always been a big girl.

But when we got married in 2008, I weighed 305 pounds. I don't even like to look at my wedding picture because of how big I was. I have lost some (not enough). At the beginning of 2015 I was 280 pounds. I had just gone through the worst year of my life. I had been having medical issues since April 2014. It started out with waking up in the middle of the night with the worst pain I had ever felt. I went to urgent care the next day and was told that they did not find anything that would have caused the pain. However, they did find a mass on the CT scan. That was the beginning. First, they had to do a needle biopsy, however, they could not get it all so they told me I needed laproscopic surgery to get a sample. However, getting this surgery done took 4 months. Finally in August, I went in to have the outpatient, laproscopic procedure. When I woke up, I had a surgical incision in the shape of a T on my stomach, the first incision was about 10 inches long and the other was about 6 inches. I was in the hospital for 6 days and Did not go back to work for 2 months.

But they got the sample...actually, they got the whole thing. They sent it off for biopsy and I was in the clear...

But wait, it turns out it was cancer. Hodgkin's Lymphoma, to be exact. I got lucky though, it was a rare type and early so I only had to do radiation. I was done by Christmas. Yay!!!

Did I mention that at the same time that I was having the surgery to remove the mass, I also had a cyst on my ovary and they removed the ovary during the same surgery... Well, right after Christmas, I found out that the other ovary also has a cyst... But my doctor just wants to watch it at this point.

Oh, then there was the urinary issues that were going on for the past few years (all my life, really). I would have symptoms of a UTI but they would never find anything when they did testing. It turns out that I had a ureterocele, which was since birth. And that pain that started it all...I started to get kidney stones... And one of the kidney stones got stuck in the ureterocele and caused me to not be able to pee...I ended up with a catheter for a week before, guess what, I had to have another surgery in January 2015.

But, then, it was done...(well, mostly, I still have to monitor the cyst and the cancer for now) but, I HAVE NO PAIN!!!!

So, when I started to feel better, I decided that I needed to get healthy, figuring it would be easier to manage any other health issues if I was not 280 pounds. So, hubby and I started talking about it and decided that we would do it together (he is also a big guy). So we decided that Nutrisystem in the way to go...
