Crazy?

I have been thinking lately...

Would my friends and family think I was crazy if we decided to get rid of all of our stuff and travel around in the van with our pups and blog about it? I think we would be crazy…

Hubby is turning the van into an RV of sorts. He has built the bed frame and went and bought a cozy mattress for it. It will have electricity (eventually) in that there will be a solar panel on the roof attached to batteries (and whatever other magic goes in to making that work). He is planning the little kitchenette area (really just a cooler with a charcoal grill at this time, not sure if there will be running water).

We will have storage and room for our pups. He is watching lots of videos of people who do this and I am following several accounts on twitter and Instagram… It looks so freeing. I know we would have to have money. There is expense…food, gas, maintenance…cell phone bills, probably a storage bill since I know that I would not be able to get rid of everything (but, really, how LIBERATING would that be!!!)

It sounds amazing, and also scary…but life is about taking risks. RIGHT?!?!?

  1. Oh man, I've thought about this, too. We live in Brooklyn, so we can't have a lot of things as a rule, and sometimes I just feel like "let's just put the cats in a van and GO"

  3. I would love to do something like this but with a destination in mind. Like drive to Texas (I live in Maryland) and start over.

  15. I couldn't do it. I love my big cozy bed and long bubble baths and being in the car too long makes me nutty. But it sounds so fun. This is my husband's dream for when we retire.

  20. We have a cozy bed in the van (maybe not that big). I am not usually a bubble bath person. I do get annoyed on car rides, but I think that this adventure sounds like alot of fun. Thanks!

  24. There are days where I am tempted to consider something similar! Although I might have to go the RV route, because there is no way I'm giving up my sewing!

  26. I can't imagine living in an RV (my husband's dream) let alone a van but it does sound very "cozy" and, yes, a little "cra cra" :)

  27. An RV would also be an option, if we needed the space! We don't have an RV but we do have a van!!
